How Long Does It Take To Feel Relief?

It depends on the severity of the condition. Some women feel instant relief but the pain might come back to some degree or at the same level it once was until one to two full courses of treatment are completed. Recovery also depends on how often the patient can commit to treatments, self-care and levels of physical and emotional stress in life. Significant relief from anxiety and depression due to living with chronic pain takes about two weeks or two to four treatments.

How Often Do I Need Acupuncture Treatments For Pelvic Pain?

In the first month we recommend three weekly acupuncture treatments.
In the second month we recommend twice weekly acupuncture.
In the third month we recommend once weekly acupuncture.

How Does Acupuncture Help Relieve Female Pelvic Pain?

There is a saying in Chinese medicine, “Where there is pain, there is no free flow. Where there is free flow, there is no pain.” Acupuncture helps to free the flow of qi/energy and blood. It activates your body’s innate healing ability. Acupuncture releases serotonin, endorphins and enkephalins which are pain blocking, happy making hormones. Acupuncture reduces the stress hormone cortisol which causes anxiety. Acupuncture also boosts energy and mood.

Where Are Needles Placed For A Female Pelvic Pain Acupuncture Treatment?

Needles are commonly placed in the hands, feet and limbs and sometimes in the back or abdomen to free the flow of qi/energy to stop the pain. If your pain is inside the vagina or outside on the vulva or clitoris we will never place needles “down there”. We can direct the energy and alleviate pain by choosing from hundreds of other points on the body.

Will Acupuncture Allow Me To Reduce Or Stop Taking Pain Medication For Pelvic Pain?

In many cases, yes. It takes time to titrate (slowly lower) the dose with the cooperation of your pain management doctor. We suggest receiving at least six acupuncture treatments within three to four weeks before reducing the medications.

“Alleviated Endometriosis, Insomnia, and Migraines.
I work a high stress job that requires me to travel often & work late hours, including weekends. This causes a severity of issues which I didn’t experience 2-3 years ago; daily migraines, insomnia, anxiety, body aches & poor blood circulation. However, over the past year I was hospitalized for endometriosis, so I turned to acu to get me moving around. After seeing the professionals at Garden Acu twice a week, I’m back at work & experience tremendous pain relief, less headaches, & stay asleep!”.
