Reopening After Quarantine

The novel coronavirus has been all consuming for weeks now. It has flipped every aspect of our lives upside down. Home life, work, school, grocery shopping, socializing has completely changed. Everything is different and uncertain. But it is inevitable that businesses will be reopening. There are many versions of what this looks like for different businesses and there are new guidelines we all have to follow to protect one another.

At Garden Acupuncture, we have always gone above guidelines of clean needle technique and medical protocols. But for the first time we are going to have to suit up for a whole new ball game. Below are a list of new protocols we are implementing at our office:

  1. No patients are allowed to enter the office if they have any symptoms such as sore throat, fever, chills, loss of taste or smell, cough, aches, chest congestion or tightness, shortness of breath, bluish lips, face or toes, new rash. And of course the same rules apply to all employees of Garden Acupuncture as well.

  2. Patients are required to wear a face covering in the office at all times, even during treatments. Employees are required to wear N95 masks and protective eye wear.

  3. Patients and employees are tested for fevers via no touch digital thermometer upon entering the office.

  4. Patients must then immediately sanitize their hands before entering their treatment room.

  5. We have staggered treatment times by 15 minutes so there will never be patients arriving at the same time. We have marked areas that are over 6 feet apart in our reception area and our consultation room is available for keeping 6 feet apart in the hallway.

  6. All tables, pillows, door handles, and chairs are sanitized with hydrogen peroxide and UV light between every patient. All cushions, cloth pillows and anything that cannot be sanitized have been removed from treatment rooms.

  7. Each night there will be an ozone machine running to disinfect the entire office further. The reception area and employee offices also have UV air filters running.

While TCM is very effective at treating common colds, we unfortunately cannot take any risks by letting ill patients into the office at this time. However we will continue to boost immunity in all other patients.

These new protocols might sound very cold and sterile. And that is the point- to keep everything clean and safe. But we hope our warm welcomes, calm atmosphere, soft music, and experienced treatments will get every patient feeling as uplifted, calm, out of pain and re-balanced as they did before the world got flipped upside down.
