Bedwetting in Children Treated with Eastern Medicine

13 clinical trials were evaluated to determine the efficacy of Acupuncture for nocturnal enuresis (NE) in children.  12 out of the 13 studies reported that Acupuncture as part of a complete Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) package to better than alarm therapy, which is the gold-standard in Western medicine for NE. The researcher also found that electro-acupuncture increases treatment outcomes, and that Acupuncture alone did not work as well when not used in a combined TCM approach. Researchers state that Acupuncture is effective at treating NE by influencing the spinal micturition centers and parasympathetic innervation of the urinary tract.
